Founded in 1883, the Fitzroy Football Club won eight VFL premierships and probably produced more champions than any other club – Jack Moriarty, Percy Parratt, Jim Freake, Haydn Bunton, Wilfred Smallhorn, Dinny Ryan, Allan Ruthven, Alan Gale, Kevin Murray, Bernie Quinlan, Paul Roos and many others.
Then, when Fitzroy merged with the Brisbane Bears to become the Brisbane Lions from the 1997 season, a new era of success was born, with premierships over the 2001-03 seasons. There have been many wonderful moments for the Lions and this book provides a season-by-season account of Fitzroy's successes and struggles, with hundreds of photographs. There also are a myriad of memories. Then, merging into the future, there is an account of the Brisbane Lions' climb to glory.
Colourful characters, champions from all eras and all the ups and downs of a mighty club over almost 125 years are all featured in FITZROY.
